i'm an 8th grader, this my ninth year at this school. Nowadays the school has changed dramatically. we have a new cafeteria manager (o.0 pack your lunch kids, it's just not worth it), we have lots of new teachers with new ideas and ways of teaching, most teachers care more about us learning the material we actually need to know instead of teaching the test(s), we have super amazing athletic teams (especially the basketball teams, girls and guys made it to the championship this year!!) and coaches, a PE teacher who changes things up and has new ideas for units and games to keep away boredom and people just stanging around, we've been around the special ed children all our school lives and love those guys and they have the best teacher one of their parents could ask for, there are so many choices for activitys outside of a classroom during their designated time where we can enjoy our school day (much like in the high school), the band program has a super awesome director who's been here for over 5 years now and if your worried about him leaving, no worries;) i think mr. u will be here a while, we have lots of student activists (myslef included) in groups like SAND (students against negative decisions), and along with the new teachers there are the old teachers who have been around a while and know us all and how we function, and it's just a fantastic experience all around. but like all schools there are downers too, scores at the end of the year have gone down in previous years, the cafeteria food stinks and is burnt/cold the majority of the time, the bus schedule is very eratic and never reliable, for the middle school we are spending more and more time in the hallways waiting on our next class to dismiss, etc. but it's finally clicked in our pricipals head that some things are wrong and he's starting to work to fix some of them like the scores problem. if your looking to enroll you child in a school, look no further. Cullowhee Valley is the place(:
